2023 Highlights
Thank you to everybody who participated in our monthly “Sunday Strolls” around sections of ESWT throughout 2023!
Diverse groups of locals and visitors enjoyed discovering the Trail together, followed by a cuppa or a beer at one of our many Elwood cafes and bars. Survey responses from participants have been extremely positive.
We also had two special ESWT events in late 2023:
On 1st October we combined with Port Phillip Guided Walks for our Sunday Stroll. A large group of walkers enjoyed great weather, and the wonderful insights provided by historian and guide Meyer Eidelson, during this Songlines of Elwood event.
On 15th November we had a party to launch a new song and story at Song Site 6, Point Ormond. It was a windy and wonderful musical event! At Song Site 6 you can now check out the lively new song Southern Fiddler Ray by local songwriters Mal Webb and Kylie Morrigan, and read about local activist Andrew Herington. At this event we also launched new recordings by Elwood Community Choir: German song Kein schöner Land in dieser Zeit (in honour of the ESWT German connection) at Song Site 11, and three little chants (see the Additional Chants and Short Songs page).
2024 Plans
In 2024 we are changing to a different model, and we invite you to join us for the next stage in the development of Elwood Singing Walking Trail:
Friends of Elwood Singing Walking Trail community group
- In April 2024 we are forming a group of volunteers to work together on the promotion and maintenance of ESWT.
- The group will consist of people who are interested in ensuring the continuation and development of this unique and popular project.
- There will be a monthly one-hour meeting at King of Tonga bar, 164A Tennyson St Elwood. Details of meeting times will be decided at the first session in April.
- Meetings and events will be held in the Elwood area, so we expect the group will attract mainly local residents. However, interested people from other areas are very welcome.
- There will be ways for everybody to get involved, from distributing ESWT promotional materials and news, to maintaining the signage, community outreach, and organising ESWT events. Whatever time you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.

- Your event will be led by local musician Jeannie Marsh, the Artistic Director and initiator of ESWT. Jeannie brings 40 years of experience as a professional singer, choir leader, music teacher, and community arts leader.
- Stay tuned for details about this new ESWT development!
